Have you tried heat to help relieve the pain-like lie on a heating pad or warm compresses. My youngest had multiple ear infections until he got tubes put in, but he never complained about the PAIN even when his eardrum had ruptured. I think it must be WAY worse for adults, much like childhood illnesses like chicken pox, mumps, etc. I sincerely hope you get some relief after your ENT visit.
