As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, rants, Facebook entries, etc., I kind of like when the law is applied fairly to all folks across the board, especially as it relates to domestic issues.
I have recently become aware of the fact that a number of people I know have been the victims of spousal / domestic abuse as well as outright domestic violence. I have been shocked by the stories as well as how the victims have coped, responded and moved on with their lives.
That said, the cause for ending and preventing domestic violence took a HUGE step backwards yesterday in the land of "The Law Doesn’t Apply to Me," also known as Los Angeles, California.
You may have forgotten, but back in February, Chris Brown (a guy who is famous for something I’ve never heard) was arrested for threatening and hitting pop starlette Rihanna. And by hitting I mean beating the fuck out of and choking based on the eveidence photos showing her blood splattered all over the inside of his rented sports car and this picture of her that was released shortly thereafter:

What followed was absolutely horrific.
99.9% of the black community rushed to Brown’s defense, saying he was young and it was a mistake, and he’s a good kid, etc.
Fuck that. This girl is 5′ 8" and probably 120 pounds, if that. Chris Brown is about 6′ 1" and has to weigh at least 180.
I don’t care if she showed him a picture of herself with Kanye’s dick in her mouth. There is no excuse ever for a man to strike a woman. (That said, there’s no excuse for a woman to strike a man either).
So what we have is a 20 year old thug that thinks it’s alright to hit women specifically and just people in general. There is photographic and actual physical evidence that this beating occurred.
And yesterday, after months of posturing and flying all over the country acting like it never happened, Chris Brown showed up for court in L.A.
Rihanna was theoretically prepared to testify (which I question), but either way Brown entered into a plea agreement just before the hearing was to begin.
According to reports, the plea deal is as follows:
He’ll spend 180 days doing community labor (8 hours a day — 1440 hours total) — which is, in effect, hard labor. He’ll do his service in Virginia which is where Brown lives. A Virginia law enforcement officer told us Brown will be picking up trash, pulling weeds and washing fire trucks.
He gets 5 years probation for FELONY assault — he pled guilty. He’ll get supervised probation.
He’ll have to come back to court every three months.
He must enroll in a domestic violence counseling program.
If Brown violates probation, he could get up to 4 years in prison.
Brown is now a convicted felon and loses the the following rights: To own a gun, to sit on a jury, subject to search and seizure without a search warrant and he now has limitations on travel.”
And he walked out of court.
Really? I don’t give a shit if he got fifty years of probation. The message sent to his supporters was "Sure, it’ll mean you can’t sit on a jury, but who fucking cares? That bitch knows who the man is now…"
Perfect.
Oh, there is also a 50 yard restraining order issued to each of them regarding the other. Whatever. By the time anyone realizes he’s violated that order, she’ll be dead and buried in the woods.
California deserves to be bankrupt. If only we could cut back to 49 stars on the flag and just make that state part of Canada or Mexico.
That’d be just awesome.

When I read your rants like this one, I just want to smack you…for your own good of course.
Go ahead Hoss…… that’ll show him who’s boss.
Couldn’t have said it better.
