The power and goodness that is the NAACP

Yesterday, some enlightened fellow from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People held a press conference in Atlanta.

Was he concerned about the treatment of minorities by the local police?

No.

Was he upset that a minority was unjustly accused of a crime, like dating a white woman?

No.

Here stood R.L. White, President of the Atlanta chapter of the once proud and useful organization, telling us that Vick’s felony conviction should not result in a lifetime ban from the NFL.

Nevermind that Vick hasn’t even been sentenced by the Feds or suspended or cut by the Falcons and his former number one apologist Arthur Blank.  This guy’s worried about how we’re all gonna treat poor misunderstood mike two years from now.

Here are some outtakes from Mr. White’s speech:

“We should join hands as a team and recognize the fact that Mr. Vick is human, humans make mistakes, but we maintain that he is a redeemable human. As a society, we should aid in his rehabilitation and welcome a new Michael Vick back into the community without a permanent loss of his career in football.  We further ask the NFL, Falcons, and the sponsors not to permanently ban Mr. Vick from his ability to bring hours of enjoyment to fans all over this country.’’

“Michael Vick has received more negative press than if he had killed a human being.” (I agree with this one fwiw).

And here’s a doozy:

White said the Atlanta chapter supports Vick’s decision to accept a plea bargain if it’s in his best interest, but he questioned the credibility of Vick’s co-defendants, saying an admission of guilt might be more about cutting losses than the truth.

“At this point, you’re not looking at guilt or innocence,’’ White said, referring to the possible harsher sentence Vick could have received had he taken his case to trial and been found guilty. “You’re thinking, ‘What I better do is cut my losses and take a plea.’ But if he saw this as the best thing to do at this point for his future, then I think he made the correct choice.’’

White said he regretted that the plea deal will mean all the facts of the case might never be known.

“Some have said things to save their own necks,’’ White said. “Michael Vick has received more negative press than if he had killed a human being.’’

White said he does not support dog fighting and that he considers it as bad as hunting.

“His crime is, it was a dog,’’ White said.

Now, the first thing I’d like to ask is, why hasn’t the NAACP changed their name already?  If I called a black man “colored” in this day and age, the NAACP would fall on me like Abdullah the Butcher.  If I called R.L. White, president of the Atlanta chapter of the NAACP colored, he’d be having a press conference about me…or on me.

Secondly, how can anyone take these idiots seriously anymore?  Here’s a guy with some clout in the organization, and he’s actually blaming the other guys that took plea agreements, ALL OF THEM BLACK MIND YOU, and saying that THEY are trying to frame Mike Vick?  Jesus Christ man.  Doesn’t anyone proofread this stuff for you?

Thirdly, when are folks gonna realize that the NAACP is about as useful today as unions?

Both served a purpose in their day, but now it’s just about vote buying and power and corruption and excuse making.  R.L. White says he’s sorry that the plea agreement means the facts of the case might never be known.

Hey Reverend White (which is quite an ironic name, no?), have you ever heard of someone aceepting a plea bargain that has them admitting to MORE than they actually did?  Of course not.  But you are so blinded by race and money that you are willing to spout this nonsense to anyone with a microphone since you can’t get your mug on television doing anything else.

Oh, and your excuse that Vick didn’t run dogfighting, but that he and his posse just loved dogs, but the posse couldn’t afford the dogs, so Mike paid for the dogs so they could all own a kennel together, is so preposterous that I actually laughed when I read it.

I’m guessing that the buried carcasses of mangled pit bulls, buildings painted black on the outside with interior walls splattered with canine blood and rape stands found on the property were all there to enhance the pet-owner relationship…right?

Just when I think that this case can’t get any more preposterous, the NAACP shows up and saves the day.  My only hope now (strictly for blog material purposes) is that Reverend Al “Tawana Brawley” Sharpton and Jessie “Do as I say, not as I do” Jackson show up and make the entire thing even more retarded.
